Haute linksDon’t have time to browse for breaking food headlines? Luckily, we do and we’re happy to share the fruits of our searching with you. Here’s our daily digest of food news in the Denver/Boulder vicinity—and worldwide, too:

Happy National Burger Day! And a most happy day to those who made Zagat’s list of Best Burgers in Denver: Highland Tap & Burger‘s Shroom Luva’s in for the win, The Squeaky Bean‘s Double Cheeseburger a la Nouveau Jersey a close second, followed by the Cherry Cricket‘s Cricket Burger, My Brother’s Bar‘s Jalapeño Cream Cheese, and Larkburger. Now you  have no excuse not to eat a top-notch burger for dinner tonight.

Colorado’s style–gloriously named “The Slopper”–hails from Pueblo and entails putting a patty in a bowl and covering it in chili. It just so happens that we published a variation on the Juicy Lucy, originating in Minneapolis, today! Now you really have no excuse not to eat a top-notch burger for dinner tonight.

As you’re frantically hoping your egg is poaching properly, do you ever wonder what things look like down there? This GoPro underwater video of an egg as it poaches is mesmerizing and kind of reminds us of a jellyfish doing a dance or the egg fertilization scene in “Look Who’s Talking.” Either way, this is food porn at its best.
